CIVILIAN CONSERVATION CORPS
(CCC) PROGRAMME
The Civilian Conservation Corps,
which operates through the Ministry of
National Security, offers introductory
training, life skills development and on
the job training to at risk youth.
Its objectives are to:
Raise the self-esteem of young people
at risk;
Initiate intervention that would
assist in fostering socially desirable
behaviours among youths;
Train and develop unemployed/
unemployable young adults
between the ages of 18-25 years to
prepare them for employment; and
Foster a sense of national pride in
the participants
Provide temporary employment for
unemployed youths.

For the period October 2012 to March
2013:
1,151 youth (516 males and
635 females)
benefited from the
programme
Other Achievements:
Trainees were involved in rendering
assistance to schools, community
groups and NGOs
95% of those enrolled in the
programme graduated from the
CCC Cycle as well as successfully
completed the OJT programme
Successful integration of socially
acceptable conflict resolution
and anger management skills,
as well an increase in discipline,
punctuality and team work
Past trainees were retained as
Junior Team Commanders and
Assistant Team Commanders
and provided mentorship for new
trainees during the cycle.
