PROGRAMME IN AGRICULTURE
(YAPA)
Through the YAPA Programme
participants are exposed to 6-8 weeks
of theoretical and practical on-farm
aspects of agriculture on successful
public and private farms.
Participants are trained in various
aspects of Farming. They also cultivate
and harvest short-term crops, and
realize profits from the sale of their
produce. Graduates fromYAPA Phase I
can continue into the Phase II.
Overall objectives of the Programme
include:

productivity of the agricultural
sector.

Achieving and sustaining quality of
life and contributing to the socio-
economic development of rural
communities.

For the period September 2012 to
March 2013:
•
41 individuals enrolled
in Phase
II of the programme, which is now
10% complete.
Training was offered in areas such as:
crop agronomy, livestock husbandry,
computer literacy, seedling production
and vegetable production. This activity
resulted in achievements in the areas
of self-esteem, resulting from self-
sufficiency, a better understanding
of financial management and the
maintenance of agricultural systems.
