Human Rights and the Elderly in
Trinidad and Tobago
The aim of this legal seminar was to
examine and highlight the increasing
incidents of elder abuse and the
violation of the rights of older persons.

The Division of Ageing hosted

seminars on Human Rights and the
Elderly.
The first was held at the Centre of
Excellence, Macoya in March, 2013 and
the second at the Magdalena Grand
in Tobago in the month of May, 2013.

attendance at each event.

HIV/AIDS COORDINATING UNIT:
The HIV Coordinating Unit of the
Ministry of the People and Social
Development is responsible for
integrating the national HIV/AIDS
response into the MPSD’s process

budgeting instruments and sectoral
programmes/initiatives and projects

A workshop on
Understanding
Adherence and the effects
of treatment and promoting
Nutrition and Healthy Living for
PLWHIV
was held. Approximately

HIV Sensitisation Programme for
Deportees.
During the reporting
period approximately
40 men
benefited
from sensitisation
programmes.

Annual HIV Quiz – for out of
School students.
Approximately
65 teenagers participated in this
Quiz.

both nutritional and
