The objectives of the Programme are:
•
To provide industry relevant skills
training across Trinidad and Tobago.

To develop programmes leading
to sustainable (long term)
employment.
•
To increase transferability of
qualifications in order to facilitate
employment options for trainees.
•
To fill gaps in industry with respect
to specific skill shortages.
•
To provide training and accessibility
to Information Technology and
Communication Tools.

For the period October 2012 to July
2013:
•
In collaboration with the NTA
and PTSC, a Heavy Equipment
Technician Apprenticeship
Programme was launched in
Tobago in January 2013 and the
PTSC Trade School was launched
in Port of Spain in February, 2013
•
A Graduation Ceremony for 59
Craftsmen
trained in the areas
inclusive of: Air Conditioning and
Refrigeration; Plumbing; Facilities
Maintenance; andWelding was
held in January 2013
•
ICT Training was formerly launched
at the St. Joseph Learning
Resource Centre in March 2013.
An Efficient and
Effective Social
System for the Poor
and Vulnerable
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
PROGRAMME (OJT)
The OJT Programme facilitates
structured work-based training by
engaging employers in providing the
nation’s youth with opportunities to
develop relevant skills over a period of
two (2) years. It is intended to assist the
Government in attaining sustainable
development and full employment, and
in improving the standard of living of the
country’s young people.

4,277 applicants

life skills

September 25, 2012 and deferred
medical students placed
