LAND FOR THE LANDLESS
In fiscal 2013, a decision was made by
the GoRTT to grant beneficiaries of
the Land for the Landless Programme,
eligibility to access funding under
the existing 2%Mortgage Financing
Regime administered by the Trinidad
and Tobago Mortgage Finance
Company Limited (TTMF) to facilitate
the purchase of residential lots and the
construction of houses, or the purchase
of starter homes.
Government has also extended the
2%mortgage financing facility for the
purchase of land as well as to construct
homes, to the VSEP beneficiaries of the
former Caroni (1975) Limited.

During the period October, 2012 to
September 2013:
The first public draw to select
potential beneficiaries was held and
500 persons were selected
. These
persons would become eligible to
access funding under the existing
2% financing facility for the purchase
of land as well as to construct their
homes.
In the month of July 2013,
leases
were distributed to 187 VSEP
beneficiaries
for residential lots of
land, which brings the
total number
of residential leases granted to
former Caroni workers to 1,550.
