The following initiatives would be the focus for
fiscal 2013-2014:
• Finalise, publish and disseminate the Report
on the Multiple Indicators Cluster Survey 4;
• Conduct a National Social Policy Forum
which focuses on presenting and obtaining
stakeholder
feedback
on
documents
developed by the Inter-Ministerial Social
Policy Committee;
• Develop a Policy Agenda for the Social
Sector to educate and inform public sector
stakeholders and civil society of draft policy
initiatives
• Compile Policy Development Guidelines
for the Social Sector to provide structure
and consistency to the policy development
process, improve the quality of policy
documents
produced
and
promote
evidence-based policy making;
• Monitor implementation of the Social Sector
Research Agenda.

The following initiatives would be the focus for
fiscal 2013-2014:
• Continue computerisation of the Social
Welfare Division;
• Establish an Integrated Social Enterprise
Management System/ E-Pass;
• Continue decentralisation of Social Services
Delivery;
• Establish a Social Services Centre in Point
Fortin;
• Establish two (2) Governance Centres in
Icacos and Guayaguayare;
• Expand the ‘Direct Impact’ and ‘Direct Effect’
Outreach Programmes;
• Develop an electronic based monitoring and
evaluation mechanism for the resolution of
people’s issues.

The NESC will provide training in the
maintenance of industrial equipment supplied
by the Caterpillar Corporation that is widely
used in the construction industry in Trinidad and
Tobago. Automotive training will be provided
to allow servicing of the new technology in the
newly designed vehicles.

ECHNOLOGY

ENTRE
The Mayaro Skills and Technology Centre will
provide access to technical training for persons
located in the Central to South East of Trinidad,
reducing significantly the cost and time of
student commute. The area is also home to
significant energy sector production facilities
which would support the participation of the
residents of Mayaro in the energy sector and its
attendant higher earning potential.

(WAC)
This initiative caters to technical and vocational
skills training needs of Trinidad and Tobago. This
includes the provision of training centres and
workforce assessment centres throughout the
various regions of Trinidad and Tobago.
