Strategic Priority – Poverty Reduction and Human Capital Development

Tobago’s Education sector will be allocated $22.7miliion to continue investment in the
human capital by improving the physical and management structures at all levels within the
centre.
Early Childhood Education
110.
In fiscal 2014 pre-primary education will receive $0.3 million for the establishment of an
Early Childhood Care and Education Unit.
Primary Education
111.
Primary education will be allocated $16.5 million to implement the following:
improvement works to Signal Hill, Moriah and Delaford Government schools
improvement and Extension works to L’Anse Fourmi Methodist, Bon Accord
Government, St. Patrick’s, Lambeau and Plymouth Anglican schools
construction of Scarborough RC School

Funds will also be allocated for the establishment of a research unit for primary school
teachers, teacher training, technical assistance for curriculum development and improvement of
security at primary schools.
Secondary Education
113.
The secondary education will receive a sum of $4.4 million to continue improvement
works at Bishops’ High, Scarborough Secondary, Roxborough Composite and Signal Hill Senior
Comprehensive schools. The allotted sum will also finance the construction of a multi-faceted
education complex, the young scholars programme and a programme of assessment and
evaluation in schools.
