Strategic Priority – Crime and Law and Order
Public Safety and Citizen Security
80.
In fiscal year 2014 the sum of $12.6 million will be provided through the Ministry of
National Security for the construction and upgrade of the facilities to ensure the safety of citizens
and protect our national borders. The major activities to be undertaken will include:
•
preliminary works including site surveys and a consultancy for the establishment of a
Coast Guard Base at Charlotteville, Tobago
•
upgrade of the Administration Building at the existing Coast Guard Facility
•
preparation of designs for the construction of a Fire Station in Black Rock
•
construction of a guard room and canteen with modern services and amenities at the
Regiment facility
•
upgrade of the facility for the Defence Force Reserves including construction of a
kitchen and dining facility and provision of furniture and furnishing for the female
dormitory
•
commencement of designs for the construction of a dormitory and detachment
headquarters at Camp Signal Hill
Law Enforcement
81.
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will undertake the following initiatives in fiscal
2014:
•
commencement of construction of Police stations at Roxborough and Old Grange
•
Phase IV of the Scarborough Police Station upgrade project – conversion of a former
garage area into offices and a main stores
•
establishment of a canine facility in Tobago
