The District Servicing Unit assisted over one hundred (100) registered and unregistered
youth serving and youth led organizations. Four (4) established Youth Centres further
contributed as youth friendly space where young people participated in programs that catered to
their intellectual, life skill development, leisure and recreational activities in the communities.

The Mobile Youth Healthy Lifestyle Programme (MYHELP) promoted healthy life styles
among young people. In fiscal year 2013, the department spent over $0.7 million engaging
young people at secondary schools, various communities and popular social events using theatre,
caravans and peer education. Special emphasis was placed on the outreach programs and
activities in popular youth "hot spot". In addition to the presence made by the department on
social media via facebook, the 6th edition of the Youth Magazine was published, with plans of
publishing a new issue every quarter of fiscal 2014.

A total of $0.9 million was spent on upgrades to the Mardon House and Pembroke Youth
centres in fiscal 2013, with works on other centres to be implemented in fiscal 2014
Housing and Shelter
73.
The sum of $28.6 million was disbursed for the continued implementation of the Tobago
Housing and Settlements Expansion Programme under the purview of the Tobago House of
Assembly. Activities undertaken during the fiscal year 2013 included the following:-
•
payments to HDC and the commencement of construction works at Adventure Phase
II. The first phase of this project consists of the construction of 78 two bedroom, one
and a half bath townhouses. The designs for the remaining sub-phases; three
bedroom, two bath townhouses, duplexes (both two and three bedrooms) and
apartments (both two and three bedrooms) have also been completed
•
payments to MTS and E-IDCOT and the commencement of the preparation of one
hundred and three (103) serviced lots at Courland and forty-five (45) serviced lots at
Belle Garden
•
the installation of 200ft of 4” sewer lines at Signal Hill as part of the Signal Hill
Sewer Link Project
