A total of $36.3 million made available for continued support in the areas of agriculture,
fisheries, forestry, research and development was utilised to continue implementation of
initiatives to improve food security on the island and reduce the high national food import bill.
Key areas targeted comprise:
refurbishment work on two farm buildings on the Government Stock Farm which are
60% and 85% complete
rehabilitation of approximately 45 agricultural access roads
hosting of training programmes for farmers in the area of cocoa production
establishment of home gardens for elderly persons and primary schools
provision of technical advice to encourage persons with home gardens

Other undertakings in the Agriculture sector consisted of:
construction of the Administrative Office Complex at Louis D’or which is 85%
complete
refurbishment of the Old Administrative Building to include a 6ft perimeter fence
landscaping of the south lawn at the Botanical Gardens

The THA continued placing emphasis on expanding the fisheries sub-sector with ongoing
construction works to fishing facilities at Roxborough, Lambeau and Pigeon Point which are
being designed in accordance with HACCP standards.
